SCAM ALERT! NEA RESIDENTS! AT&T CUSTOMERS!

Only a few minutes ago, my mother received a call from an unknown number. On the call was an automated voice which STATES THE FOLLOWING

"Your AT&T Account has been suspended and requires verification."

Then, the automation requests the following:

Verify your Access Pin/Access Code

(4+digit pin used when making calls to AT&T, used to verify you are who you say you are.)

It then requested for "The last 4 digits of your social security number."

This is used when the pin is forgotten and can be used to change ANYTHING account wide.

THIS IS A SCAM AND AN EASY WAY TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR WIRELESS ACCOUNT

What should you do?

Option 1:

Do not take calls from numbers which are blocked or not familiar to you.

Option 2:

If you take the call and realize what is going on. Simply hang up.

If you take the call, and you or someone else gives the requested information, call AT&T IMMEDIATELY and request their fraud department. When calling, you may say "Someone is using my identity!"

They have protocols in place to address this issue, including putting additional/replacing existing security verification information.

You can dial 611 on your AT&T serviced phone to call customer care directly.

AT&T WILL NEVER CALL YOU AND ASK FOR YOUR INFORMATION. EVER!

THEN YOU MUST CALL THEM 99% OF THE TIME!

AGAIN... AT&T WILL NEVER CALL YOU AND ASK FOR YOUR INFORMATION. EVER!

Only when you call them will you ever be asked for this information.

Please share, older generations are especially vulnerable to this scam. Have a good evening NEA!
