Refresher Course Ft. CBD

Well, WHAT THE HECK IS IT? Glad you asked, 'cause I'm gonna tell ya.

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of roughly 113 cannabinoids (active chemical compounds) in cannabis or hemp. Cannabinoids contain 21 carbon molecules that either block or stimulate endocannabinoid receptors. Every person has an endocannabinoid designed to process these compounds. See the formula for CBD below!

Okay, marvelous. Understood. But, how do you get your paws on CBD? Since it is, in fact a derivative?

There are several ways to birth CBD oil and tinctures. To each their own, of course. Some of these methods can be expensive, and require lab equipment and quite the learning curve, in an attempt to make sure the process is safe.

- CO2 EXTRACTION. The supercritical (or subcritical) CO2 method uses carbon dioxide under high pressure and extremely low temperatures to isolate, preserve, and maintain the purity of the medicinal oil. This process requires expensive equipment and a steep operational learning curve. But, when done well the end product is safe, potent, and free of chlorophyll.

-ETHENOL. High-grade grain alcohol can be used to create high-quality cannabis oil appropriate for vape pen cartridges and other products. But this extraction method destroys the plant waxes, which may have health benefits that are favored by some product-makers.

-OLIVE OIL. Extra virgin or otherwise, olive oil can also be used to extract cannabis oil. Dr. Arno Hazekamp, director of phytochemical research at Bedrocan BV, which supplies medical cannabis for the Dutch Health Ministry, reports this method is both safe and inexpensive, “You won’t blow yourself up making cannabis-infused olive oil.” However, cannabis-infused olive oil—whether CBD-rich or THC-dominant—is perishable and should be stored in a cool, dark place.

Why is Cannabidiol so popular all of a sudden?

The popularity and rise in sales stems from a vast realization adhered to testimonials. It provides the therapeutic benefits of marijuana without the "high" or "stoned" results. While we know this may not appeal to some, because they do seek out the psychoactive components of THC, you can 100% pass a drug test(so long as the tincture you're using isn't a THC rich mixture) and eliminate many of the struggles Marijuana often alleviates, with CBD alone.

Here is where it really counts. I can probably speak for anyone else involved with CBD production, or just making a case for the all-in-one life aid, when I say the mission statement is to expose it for what it is:

A GAME CHANGER

The testimonials and in depth research we've stuck our nose in has always come out holding hands with CBD and our speculations about it.

Now, why has it been hidden in the shadows for the better part of the last century? Your guess is as good as ours - and in attempt to keep politics clear of this particular post, we are going to zoom in on why it matters TODAY.

CBD has lived up to it's name. It has many actually: Anti-epileptic, anti-depressant, anti-inflammatory, anti-nauseate, sleep aid, muscle relaxant, and a proliferative. (prevention of the spread of malignant host cells and cancer cells) I know. Those are big claims. But, focus on the word "potential." Scientists and chemists are logging many many hours, simply because the surface has hardly been scratched where Cannabidiol and Cannabis is concerned! That excites us here at Emerald's.

And we thank you three times over for your support and interest in the greater good, as it is informally our mission statement.

Xoxo,

Emerald's Triangle + Shaman's Reach Inc.
